I asked about an e-scooter repair and was told quite rudely that I should just go back to where I bought it. In a very unpleasant tone, I wouldn't recommend it if customer service is always like this.

I recently bought a new, high-quality bicycle from Bike Island and would like to highlight the excellent advice I received. Through questions and test rides, they identified the best bike for my needs, which isn't always the case with such a wide selection. This meant I didn't skimp on features that were important to me and still got excellent quality. Currently, many bikes from last year are being offered with significant discounts, but whether they actually meet your needs is often questionable. Even after two months, I'm very happy with my bike and can highly recommend Bike Island.

My bike was seriously overdue for servicing, and the brakes were in a terrible state. I had the brakes, service, and chain and sprocket replacement done at Bike Island. It didn't brake this well even when it was brand new. The front brake always had a spongy feel, and after buying it, I went to other places twice (with limited success). Now Bike Island has fixed it perfectly. Thank you so much! 🍀👍

So, as a "cycling tourist" from the far north, I have to give my two cents here. The friendly, courteous, and spontaneous assistance I received with my breakdown is, in my opinion, something I don't take for granted anymore. A call in the afternoon and the spontaneous reply, "No problem—we'll do it today!" Great! After half an hour, I was able to continue the tour and enjoy my vacation without having to completely replan. Thank you so much!

During my visit to Bike Island, I asked for a rough price quote beforehand, as I had only come for brake and gear shifting work. Without prior agreement, additional services were performed, and the final price was €230 instead of the approximately €150 I had been told. After I criticized the lack of transparency, I was condescendingly asked if I would have just thrown my bike away otherwise. I find it outrageous to make a young woman feel ridiculous and then bill her for services that weren't discussed beforehand.
Owner's response
Dear Bike Island customer,

We are very sorry that you are dissatisfied with the handling of your case. We fully understand that you would have preferred a more transparent process – this is very important to us as well. Unfortunately, in your case, this did not work as planned.

The check you requested was estimated to cost approximately €150. When we realized during the processing that this budget would not be sufficient, we were unable to reach you for an extended period. Since the work could not be interrupted indefinitely, we ultimately had to make a decision.

We ask for your understanding in this matter.

I visited Bike Island twice – both visits were unfortunately negative experiences. The first time, I simply wanted to borrow a hose to bleed my brakes (I had everything else with me). Instead, they bled the brakes without asking and then charged me €30 – I found that intrusive and lacking in transparency. On my second visit, I wanted advice on the saddle and gears. The responses were curt, sometimes even condescending, even though I asked politely. The requested gear adjustment was supposed to cost another €35 – so I did it myself. In short: not very customer-oriented, hardly willing to engage in dialogue. I like to support local shops – but I won't be going there again.
Owner's response
Dear Bike Island customer,

We are sorry that there appears to have been a misunderstanding. We do not bleed brakes without prior consultation, a corresponding order, and a cost estimate.

It is regrettable that you found your second encounter with us – after closing time – regarding questions about your bicycle purchased online, to be negative. We always strive to treat our customers with respect and courtesy.

I got a flat tire under the Grünwald Bridge. So I pushed my bike to Bike Island in Pullach. It was my first time there, I didn't even have any money with me, and yet they helped me immediately and without any fuss. After 20 minutes, my bike was repaired, and I was happily on my way. I was able to pay the bill by bank transfer. That's what I call service, and I'd gladly recommend it. Thank you so much!

Bike Island. An island even more beautiful than Mallorca, I promise. This Monday, I got a flat tire on my heavy e-bike. About 2 km from Bike Island. So I called and asked if I could come. Of course, I was told I could come. We'd manage. When I arrived, I received a warm welcome and was told the repair should be completed within 30 minutes. After just 24 minutes, the front and rear tires were replaced. Exactly as discussed. And after a coffee, I was able to continue my ride. That's service. That's island. Thank you!!

The team at Bike Island loves their job, and even more so, they love cyclists. They're incredibly passionate and competent. Whether you're a current or future customer, I was treated with exceptional courtesy and expertise – something I've rarely experienced. Even though I just wanted to quickly pump up my rear tire, the guys saw that I needed more than just air. Just minutes before closing time, my bike and I were treated like friends, and after a couple of quick adjustments, I was able to ride home without any discomfort. A top recommendation and a great selection of bikes at good prices. This is what your "trusted bike shop" should be like.

Despite the generally negative reviews, we decided to check it out and we absolutely cannot understand them! Whether it was the owner or a mechanic, everyone was very friendly and answered all our questions, which is what convinced my partner to buy her new e-bike there. She also got a fair price for her old bike. They even fitted better tires for her at no extra cost. Our conclusion: This is a shop worth visiting, and we would definitely buy a bike there again.
