Anyone who thinks that their bike handling skills can't be improved just because they can ride hands-free will quickly be proven wrong. Namely, when they have to navigate curves with one hand, negotiate a curb, or simply (?) brake properly. This and much more is taught in a well-structured and clearly demonstrated way, even in the basic course. I, who have been mountain biking for about 15 years, certainly had a sobering 'aha' moment.
