He wasn't that good, but he just charged 30 euros for diving with my own hose. I'll give him one star for that, otherwise he's hard-working. And expensive.

I went to buy a chain, which was supposed to cost €50, and the cheapest crankset was €150. With the cassette, the total came to €300. That's what they tried to sell me... I pointed out that it was too expensive. The salesman's comment: he had no problem with that, I should look elsewhere. So I did, and went to the bike shop on the corner in Lichterfelde East and bought the chain for €16 instead of €50 and the Shimano crankset for €29 instead of €150. I then went back to Tom's bike shop with my purchases and told him that I didn't mean any harm, but he should take a look at my items and the price I had paid. No understanding whatsoever. Well, that was my experience.

The customers are a real pain. You're not allowed to ask any questions. You just nod and say how great he did, even if you're not satisfied. "Get lost!" he said after three minutes. Wow! I was speechless. I wasn't expecting that.

We went there for an inspection. 20 euros was fine. He looked at it and said he'd replace all the gears for 350 euros, even though only one showed minimal wear. I don't know, but I found the conversation very dubious and unpleasant. We left again...

My bike definitely needed a lot of work, no question. So I used my day off to get a quote from Tom's bike shop. True to form, he quoted a hefty sum – he calculated it in his head in a flash, in five seconds. Impressive! When I pointed out that the repair would be more expensive than buying the same bike new, he replied that due to the pandemic, you couldn't buy any bikes at the moment – the market was completely sold out. He also said there were hardly any spare parts available. So I should expect a repair time of up to 14 days (limited ordering options, unfortunately). So, somewhat naively, I agreed to the repair – around 3:30 pm, according to my Google activity. On the way home, I started to get suspicious and looked online for bikes and spare parts. All the spare parts were available within 1-2 days. My bike model was available online for delivery within two or three days for €449 plus €20 shipping. But the sheer number of other bicycles was also enormous. In that respect, the owner(?) deliberately embellished the facts to his advantage. At 5:06 PM, I tried to cancel the order by phone, but no one was answering. So, the next day, shortly after 10:00 AM when the shop opened, I called to say I didn't want the repair. He then claimed he had already ordered all the parts and couldn't return them. He was referring to all the parts that were supposedly difficult to order. A little later that same day, when I picked up the bicycle, he claimed that returning the spare parts would cost him €30, which I consider a pretext, since nowadays you can return almost anything for free or for a very small fee, but what do I know? When I pointed out that he couldn't possibly have ordered the supposedly rare parts that quickly, he became rude, told me to leave the shop, and said I was banned. I then mentioned that all his "facts" were untrue according to my research, to which he replied in a venomous tone, essentially saying, "Then I should try ordering a bicycle myself, good luck..." There used to be a second employee there who was quite friendly, competent, and approachable. I've had three or four repairs done there since around 2008. And twice, this employee described above struck me as rude, even arrogant, but what do I know? I could live with that, but when I have a well-founded feeling that someone is trying to rip me off or lie to me, it casts a certain gloom over the evening. After the last experience, I wouldn't even let them repair a child's rattle. I'm still giving it two stars, though, because he didn't spit on me or swear at me, nor did he hit me over the head with a 75mm Allen wrench. That's quite an achievement these days.

My old bike had several issues, which were resolved within the agreed timeframe after excellent advice and a fair price. During the first test ride afterward, another problem (due to age-related wear and tear) appeared. So, back to the shop again, and the service was fantastic! I explained the problem, and it was fixed within an hour, even undercutting the initial quote! I'll definitely be back if my bike needs fixing again :)

My bike was in for rear wheel repair, and everything seemed fine. The time and price were good and fair. On the third ride after the repair, the chain fell off the sprocket/chainring. Back to the bike shop, and they put the chain back on. On the ride home, the chain fell off again. After inspecting the bike, I realized the chain was mounted very loosely and it was only a matter of time before it came off on its own. This shouldn't happen to a professional, especially since he had two chances. 👎

As the owner of Tom's bike shop, I have to say... I'm just normal, like everyone else who has good days and bad days. And yes... I make mistakes too, just like everyone else. You can talk about them and sort them out. Otherwise, I consider myself a good person who carries out repairs to the best of my ability.

I've bought things and had them repaired there a few times. Everything was fine. I wanted to return a bicycle inner tube because my old one could still be patched. Unfortunately, he refused to take it back. His reason: "He has to make money, too." We're talking about €7.50 here. Customer service = zero points.
