It's unbelievable that this old man still works there. I understand that the student union can't hire professors for a simple workshop, but this is really the lowest of the low. I came to ask for tools to repair the rear tire. Instead of handing them over, the older man put on a show as if the bike barely functioned anymore. Luckily, I have basic knowledge of bicycles, so I went back to a proper workshop. They replaced two spokes there, and the bill was less than €50. Dear student union, please take care of this. A bicycle repair shop is so important for people who don't know much about it. So it's a shame that one person is ruining everything. This guy, especially women, was attracted to his strange remarks and, as I just described, was completely clueless when it came to technical matters (or he preferred to put on a show, I don't know).

Disaster! I don't know if the old man who works there has something against women or foreigners, or both. Maybe he just has something against people in general.

Very friendly and helpful staff; you learn a lot here about how to repair your own bicycle. 🫶

Unfortunately, the workshop is unreliable. The opening hours listed on the website are not adhered to. Emails go unanswered. If you call, you're met with an unintelligible recorded message from an answering machine, or (after a few days) a notification that the mailbox is full. On August 14th, after the end of their published holiday closure, I went there during their stated opening hours, only to find the workshop closed with a sign reading "Closed due to heat" (see photo). The outside temperature was 28 degrees Celsius. There was no indication on the website of any changes to the opening hours. Even the next day, it was impossible to reach the workshop by phone. How are you supposed to know if it's worth the trip? Compare this to the AStA bicycle workshop at TU Darmstadt: They were open on August 14th despite the "heat," and they answered the phone immediately. In principle, the workshop is a great idea, but if you urgently need a repair, you unfortunately have to go somewhere else.

A good mood will get you far here, but expecting everything for next to nothing certainly won't work. I had a flat tire and received two brake pads. I'm very satisfied!

Excellent innovation: a bicycle service station that is available around the clock, has all the usual tools on hand, and also an air pump for all possible valve types.
