Dear Sir/Madam, why was a very small bicycle sold to my son, one that's not the right size for him? He's perched on it like Donkey Kong. It should be roadworthy and suitable for him. "A roadworthy bicycle needs to be the correct size." I have no idea, but now he has two bicycles of the same size at home. WOW. And all for 170 euros. What kind of advice and salesmanship was that? I'm sure the sale was unprofessional and more likely a rip-off.
Owner's response
Dear M,

We would like to know more about the timing and circumstances of your bicycle purchase so that we can find a satisfactory solution for both of us. We dedicate a great deal of time to advising and selling, especially children's bicycles, so I believe there has been a misunderstanding.

We would like to discuss how this situation arose with you and offer to meet with you at our store to discuss the matter and resolve it to your satisfaction.

Very nice shop, great service, good and very competent advice, and very accommodating even with repairs. Finally, a shop where I don't have to feel small and unworthy when I'm looking for an everyday bike with a coaster brake. This certainly won't be the last bike I buy here!

I was a regular customer, emphasis on was! I will never set foot in this shop again! I was shouted at today and treated very disrespectfully. I was also told that the child seat would not fit my bike, which is also not true. He just didn't feel like doing the work. As a customer, I had to unscrew the bracket myself to show that it fit. Then he told me that the bike seat cannot be mounted on a luggage rack, there needs to be space in between. That is also not true, the seat is mounted directly on the rack. It is also shown this way in the manufacturer's video. Very, very unprofessional! The seat is suitable for my bike (see photos) and was professionally fitted. He simply didn't feel like doing the work and was extremely disrespectful. I have never experienced such behavior!
Owner's response
Dear Goldie,

We are very sorry that you were dissatisfied with the service in our store. Our employee refused the job because he was reasonably certain that the child seat you brought with you could not be properly mounted on your bicycle, and that we do not install certain products in such cases.

If there was any cause for complaint regarding the manner of the conversation, please accept our apologies.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Super fast repair at a reasonable price. This is the first time I haven't felt ripped off with a bike repair. Great shop, keep it up!

I think the store is absolutely fantastic. Very fair, very open and honest in their advice, and I think the prices are reasonable, too. I would definitely recommend it.

I received friendly advice. Despite being understaffed, I had a bike refurbished in a reasonable amount of time. After a test ride and adjusting the bike to my needs, I was able to take it home without any problems. I'm very happy with it!
Owner's response
Thank you, Ms. Toffi, for your kind review.

We are pleased that you are satisfied and wish you safe travels.

Imagine you take your broken car to a garage and want to get it fixed. And the mechanic says: "No, I don't want to repair those cars. I only repair Audis, Mercedes, and BMWs, but these cheap cars—it's your own fault if you buy a Chinese car and it breaks down. See what you do with it, but I'm not fixing it..." What's a garage for, anyway? So that people who don't know anything about cars can get help for a fee. You don't get that here. Despite a prior verbal agreement over the phone, I was left high and dry. I'm willing to pay well for any work so I can finally go on a bike ride with my kids. But no, the bike is defective from the start. "It's your fault for buying one at Kaufland. You have to leave!" No service, nothing. Can't you make it roadworthy for me? "No, I don't want to." I feel so badly treated and would never set foot in that store again. I wouldn't buy my next bike, or the kids' bikes, here. Update: The manufacturer, Prophete, came by and installed the spare tire. It wasn't a problem at all. So much for "not roadworthy." They only had to tighten two screws, and the handlebars were secure. Just as I suspected. So either the workshop is completely incompetent and doesn't recognize something like that, or they're just arrogant and think they don't need to help. In any case, I advise everyone, even outside the warranty period, to simply contact the manufacturer. They'll send someone out, and they'll be friendly and respectful.
Owner's response
I'm sorry, Ms. Naimi, that I wasn't able to clearly explain my concerns regarding the installation of your e-bike.

I'd like to try again this way.

Our previous phone conversation concerned a request to have a tire fitted on a bicycle. I agreed to this, even providing a tire that you brought with you, which is highly unusual in our industry.

Once I arrived at our shop, I discovered that it was an e-bike, which we don't normally repair in our workshop.

However, since it was only a matter of changing the front tire, I would have even accepted the job.

Then I noticed that the handlebars and other safety-relevant parts on the new e-bike were loose. I absolutely MUST refuse to repair a bicycle that is unsafe to operate in this condition.

I MUST also decline your request to inspect and complete the assembly of the e-bike you purchased at Kaufland, as this final assembly would legally make me the manufacturer and subject me to extensive liability for a defective product whose operational safety cannot be guaranteed even with expert assembly.

I don't know of any colleague who would do this.

This isn't about the purchase at Kaufland, but rather about the fact that no one in the world can manufacture an e-bike for the amount you mentioned, whose individual parts and assembly guarantee the safe operation of the vehicle. The components of your e-bike wouldn't even function reliably on a regular bicycle. A professional can assess this at a glance.

I don't want to accept the comparison with a car repair shop, as there's no such thing as a "first-time assembly" order for a new car, for obvious reasons. You always buy them ready to drive, whether from China, VW, or Renault.

I believe I expressed my opinion politely and respectfully during our conversation. If you received a different response, I'm sorry, but I would always have to do it exactly the same way.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a specialist workshop willing to repair your e-bike.

Sincerely,
Uwe Manger, Training Manager

If you didn't understand, I apologize, but I would always have to do it exactly the same way.

Sincerely,

Uwe Manger, Training Manager

I can't recommend it enough! No other store has ever given me such great service! They were very friendly, showed me all the bikes, and I tried them out for over an hour without feeling rushed. On the contrary, they told me it's best to buy with confidence. In the end, I decided on a bike where I couldn't reach the pedals, so for the same price, they modified the seat to one that I could adjust to my height. Since I have children, they also replaced the kickstand with a double one to make the bike more stable when the kids get on (also free). They checked that the child seat could be mounted and that it would fit the bike frame. Excellent!

Friendly and competent staff, nice trainees. Sometimes it can take a little longer, but it's a training project after all. I'm satisfied with the service and will bring my Brompton in for its inspection again this year!
