I recently took my Specialized Tarmac SL7 to Karl von Drais – Frankfurt (Karl-von-Drais-Straße 6) for a full inspection. While the technical report looked thorough and professional, the overall customer experience was disappointing — both at drop-off and pickup. The same staff member at the front desk seemed rather indifferent and not particularly welcoming from the start. When I came to collect the bike, he didn’t offer to demonstrate whether the initial issue — a noise while shifting gears — had actually been resolved, and only checked it after I asked. The front tire was noticeably underinflated, which could easily cause a pinch flat or rim damage on rough surfaces, and the handlebar adjustment I requested was forgotten until I reminded them. I also noticed that the finishing tape securing the beginning of the handlebar wrap on the right side wasn’t tightened properly — something that should normally be caught during a visual check. For a €149 basic inspection (without a professional bike wash), that’s quite a premium price — even for Frankfurt. At this level, you naturally expect not only solid technical work but also a more attentive and customer-oriented approach. The technical side seems fine, but the service and handover process clearly need more care and engagement. I hope this feedback helps improve what could otherwise be an excellent workshop

Awesome behind the counter. Needed help cutting an Ortlieb Quick Rack strut to size and they helped very kindly and on the spot. Also they sell all the cool bike gadgets and tools from Topeak, Silca and Canyon.

I was in urgent need of a new rear wheel while in the middle of a long cycle tour. I messaged KarlvonDrais via WhatsApp and they responded quickly, telling me that despite normally being closed to the public on Mondays, they are willing to help tourers out of their workshop. When I arrived, Javi was incredibly friendly and helpful in finding me a wheel, and then fitting it there on the spot. It has since done over 300km without problem.

I had a fantastic experience at this bike shop! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, helping me find the perfect bike. I also loved the cozy coffee corner—such a great touch! It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee while browsing or waiting. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality bikes and a welcoming atmosphere! the brompton guy

Not (yet 😉) a customer but just have to praise what the KvD folks do for the cycling community in FFM. Took part in my first KvD group ride last night and everyone was super welcoming and helpful. Huge turnout, multiple groups for different fitness levels, everything well organised, snacks/drinks at the halfway point + back at the store at the end. Will definitely be joining in again whenever time permits.

In today with an appointment to fix my rear wheel. The team was friendly and helpful to get me squared away. I came back at my lunch hour as the bike was already ready to pick-up. Fantastic service and so happy to have my bike up and going again! Thank you!

rented a xl gravel bike from the bike shop for a few days trip from Düsseldorf to Frankfurt. great service, easy to rent would recommend bike rentals and service. staff were very friendly and helpful.

The maintenance done on my beloved Specialized Tarmac was top notch! Service was fast and the attention to detail was something I rarely experienced in other bike shops. Also, big compliments to the very knowledgeable and helpful staff. If you want the best for your bike go to KvD.
