My search for new hiking boots led me to Polarluchs in May. It was my first time in the store, and I can't remember ever receiving such excellent service. The staff explained the different shoes and materials to me, and I tried on boots from various manufacturers to compare them (fit, sturdiness). The sales assistant was a true expert and made sure the boots fit properly, not too big or too small, and that they didn't pinch. I never felt pressured to buy anything. I quickly found the perfect pair. I put them to the test last week on my Iceland vacation, hiking on volcanic rock and glacial ice, and I didn't get a single blister or pressure point. They fit perfectly from the very first hike! I'm absolutely thrilled and already looking forward to my next hikes! Thank you so much!

Yesterday I bought some hiking boots and merino socks. The advice I received was absolutely fantastic, and very important to me, it was presented in a relaxed, friendly, and easy-to-understand manner. It was truly helpful, not just a sales pitch. I'll definitely be back. Thank you!

I haven't had such a good experience at a specialist retailer in a long time! Great advice, with plenty of time and patience. It was my first time in the store, but the friendly atmosphere immediately made me feel at ease. Here, expertise meets relaxed casualness! Thank you so much for your help with my not-so-easy case!

Unfortunately, we had a really bad experience with one of the employees. Our outdoor-loving friends actually like shopping here, especially because it's the only outdoor store in Hildesheim. We were in the store to pick out a high-quality rain jacket. The jacket we were looking for had a QR code, which we used in the store to access additional information online – just as recommended on the jacket. Since we weren't given any advice, we used it to make sure it was, for example, waterproof. In the process, we also discovered that the jacket in this color on the linked brand page was in a similar price range to the one in the store – perfect. Unfortunately, a salesperson overheard parts of the conversation and completely misunderstood this research to mean that we would order the jacket online and only try it on there (which doesn't make sense, since you can order it online to try it on, right?). Instead of asking us questions or advising us – we were about to go to the checkout – he gave us a long, angry, and condescending speech. To be honest, we understood his concern—we were in the store to support the local retail industry—but his tone was so off-the-wall that we were speechless and left. I really want to stress that his concern is understandable, and he could have addressed the misunderstanding, but the way he spoke to us was completely unacceptable. If he had waited a few minutes to speak, he would have even met us at the checkout. We're now considering whether to shop there again. Sadly, he did exactly what made him so angry—instead of buying the jacket there, we'll have to look elsewhere.

Hello Summer Samidare,<br><br>Thank you for your review; it sparked discussions within our team.<br><br>Unfortunately, we can no longer fully reconstruct the situation, but it seems we may have been inappropriate in our tone, and we would like to apologize for that!<br><br>The issue in question—price pressure from the internet and "consultation theft"—is both vital and emotionally significant for us. It's happening more and more often that customers seek our advice only to then, more or less openly, either directly compare prices online or even demand lower prices from us.<br><br>For individual employees, it's sometimes difficult to realize, after putting in a lot of effort during the consultation, that it ultimately turned out to be an internet-based consultation.<br><br>For us, it's hard to distinguish whether a customer, as in your case, wants to learn more about the product or is directly researching prices online. But you are absolutely right that this shouldn't lead to a general suspicion of our customers.<br><br>It would be easier for us if customers asked beforehand, before taking out their phones to, for example, send a photo to their partner. But perhaps that's wishful thinking these days, since the QR code directly prompted them to use their phones.<br><br>In any case, we will continue to focus on our strengths: our friendly and competent advice. I was once again reminded how pleasant it is to shop at the locally owned stores. I received extremely competent advice there. The owner even double-checked that my shoes fit perfectly, even though I had already decided to buy them. I will gladly purchase more hiking gear locally in the future!

A truly fantastic store with knowledgeable staff. I've always received excellent advice on my needs, and I've never been talked into buying anything I don't actually need. The customer still comes first!
