Spot: Excellent for kitesurfing, shallow entry, depending on the wind direction, it can be a bit tricky to launch. For foiling, you have to walk out a bit further, it's part of the experience. Station: Wetsuits, accessories, and equipment available for rental; everything looked neat and tidy. Changing rooms and showers were perfect. Crowd: Decent and extremely pleasant people. Some even passers-by stopping in for a drink or a meal. Anyone can have a pleasant chat or a professional exchange with anyone. Staff: Owner Ralf is extremely friendly, as is his team, extremely helpful and open. Catering: Also great staff; I consider the food and drink selection to be extremely extensive for a water sports station. Nothing to complain about. Conclusion: I'm looking forward to next summer when we can end the day there in the evening together. Today it was a bit too chilly for that.

…Something between fun and the nagging feeling of "generating maximum revenue with available resources." The kiteboarding course itself was good; the instructors, Alex and Jasmin, did a fantastic job and provided us with top-notch technical support. Unfortunately, the entire experience was significantly diminished by everything else. The accommodation was a real "exploration": Upon arrival, no one knew anything about our reservation, and the rooms hadn't been cleaned. An employee, D., then showed us our "upgrade": Instead of the booked Finnish cottage (whose price and standard were completely mismatched), we were given the so-called "stone cottage." And I mean, who needs pristine corners and clean windows when you're faced with mold in the bathrooms and sticky doorknobs? The mattresses were on makeshift frames, the walls were partly DIY improvised with OSB boards and painted white, and electrical outlets were few and far between. Service? Well, D. was tirelessly striving to increase the business's revenue – even when it felt like the customer was more of a hindrance than a priority. Impressively consistent in his dedication, let's just say. The facility is visibly showing its age, as is some of the equipment. The value for money – especially regarding accommodation – is unfortunately not right. In conclusion: This is, of course, our very personal impression of the two days. If I lived nearby, I could imagine booking another course – but only with a personal instructor (chosen by myself), my own equipment, and without any kind of overnight stay. I also wouldn't personally use the restaurant again. The instructors we met were, on the whole, really nice and helpful, and they conveyed the theory and practice of kitesurfing well and with passion. It's a shame that the overall impression was so significantly marred.

Great place for the active crowd. Perfect for replenish your strength after a long day of watersports with a cold drink a good plentyful meal and a nice conversation. Large 1st and 2nd hand equipment shop for wind, wing and kitesurfjng (maybe more) with very knowledgeable assistance from the staff/owner.

Surfer's Paradise, located directly on Lake Steinhude, is exceptionally accommodating to its customers. Even shortly before the course begins, cancellations or rebookings are possible. All the staff are helpful, competent, friendly, and in great spirits. All the instructors are highly motivated and able to impart their knowledge completely. I've had the pleasure of taking a windsurfing course there in the past. The whole atmosphere is uniquely relaxed, allowing each participant to reach their personal level. And let's not forget, the equipment is always state-of-the-art. I'm going to book a kitesurfing course at short notice so I'm ready for my holiday.

Owner's response

Thank you so much, Peter, for this fantastic and detailed review! We're delighted that you feel so comfortable with us and appreciate our flexibility, team, and instructors. We wish you lots of fun in your kiteboarding course and look forward to your next visit to Lake Steinhude!

Probably the only spot near Hannover to surf. Sometimes the wind blows, which must be checked before visiting. I hired Equipment. The staff somehow assumed i was a commoner and urged me get the equipment myself. Consequently i got a private equipment by mistake.
