We wanted to rent a bike for a 1.40m tall boy for a weekend and pre-ordered a specific bike directly from the shop. When we went to pick it up, it was rented out (for two weeks), and they wanted to give us a small children's bike. The second suggestion was a larger bike, which the boy couldn't ride properly. According to the employee who was there, it would be great to have the larger bike. The young man slid from right to left on the seat to ride. A bad experience for us and disappointing for the young man. Postscript: When I asked if I should put down a deposit in advance, the employee said it wasn't necessary. You have to deal with criticism and not feel attacked right away. It's a shame that free expression isn't encouraged. (I edited my post after the reply)

Dear Ms. Wolfsfehlner, as I explained to you on-site after my sincere apology for this misunderstanding, our fleet includes two children's bicycles with 20" wheels and one youth bicycle with 24" wheels. During your previous visit, my assistant, with whom you inquired about availability and apparently did not make a booking with the required prepayment, entered our standard abbreviation KiF for children's bicycle in the appointment calendar, and not the corresponding abbreviation JuF for the 24" youth bicycle.<br><br>However, this occurred after a firm booking had already been made by a family of four for a period of 14 days. Your false claim, publicly stated here on the "Google" portal, that I would prioritize a more profitable deal over a shorter rental period in this case, is completely untrue and is not supported by any further information exchanged during our conversation. By legal definition, this constitutes "defamation/slander," which you are disseminating in your public review here. Therefore, apart from possible legal action, I have requested the deletion of your review from the operator of the portal “google”.

I booked two e-bikes for a Saturday. The whole process was smooth and friendly over the phone. On site, we received a briefing on the bikes, and we were able to choose the model ourselves. Overall, I can highly recommend this bike rental company, not least because of its longer opening hours compared to other rental shops.

Really great service. Very nice guy, Patrick, who runs this business. Helped us tremendously and gave great advice. Bikes were an amazing value. Would suggest to anyone 100%.

We rented bikes there several times. On one of the most recent bikes, even with the rear brake lever fully engaged, the rear wheel spun while pushing the bike (!). Upon returning the bike, I tested the brakes on other bikes of the same model in his showroom. On these, the rear brakes engaged so strongly that the rear wheel locked up when pushing. When I pointed this out, Mr. Kordt was uncooperative and defended the defect. He claimed that each bicycle was individually adjusted to its specific components and that the rear brake shouldn't engage so strongly, as this would damage the e-motor. If that were the case, the brakes on the other bikes of the same model in his showroom would be incorrectly adjusted. The bikes we rented previously would also have had to be incorrectly adjusted, as their rear brakes engaged much more strongly. It's normal for a rental bike to have a defect, and I wouldn't leave a negative review for that reason, but defending this defect seems risky to me. Anyone renting a bicycle there should be familiar with e-bikes and perform a thorough check before riding. Also check the bicycles of any fellow riders who may not be very familiar with them.

However, it is quite surprising that you only now, exactly four months after returning the two e-bikes following your six-day tour, publicly posted my technical explanation of your question here with a mediocre three-star rating, and even subsequently reduced it to two stars after my explanatory reply (also in direct contact). It might seem that you sought further expert technical advice on your question during the four months since then, which could have led to a different, more informed conclusion than my statement. However, this is clearly not the case – rather, it is presumably your frustration at a failed attempt to negotiate a lower price on a rental price that was already discounted in your favor. Unfortunately, I cannot argue with that and will grant you this inner satisfaction.<br>... I'd like to reinforce my answer with an easy-to-understand video about brakes, "Riding Tips for Your eBike Tour," from the motor manufacturer BOSCH eBike Systems (this motor was installed in your wife's e-bike). Your question is answered in detail between minutes 7:00 and 8:00, but for your own safety, please watch until the end:<br><br>https://youtu.be/aIlzX0ai7P8?si=DVNEPmOWw7xB9_J7<br><br>Therefore, I stand by my answer to your question: only when both hand brakes are applied simultaneously will the e-bike achieve optimal braking effect. The front brake will engage immediately, while the rear brake will engage gradually, depending on the motor's power and the rider's height. Given your height, you received a 60cm frame, and your partner received a smaller one with a 45cm frame. This height-dependent bike allocation is a unique feature among bike rental companies in the Stade district, if not as far as Hamburg. It was an ideal match for the two riders' heights and weights. Riding casually with one hand, for example, using only one hand for reaction, is just as negligent as only using one of the two brakes.<br><br>Dear Mr. Strecker, you and your wife picked up the two rented e-bikes one day before your tour (transporting them yourselves!) and rode them yourselves. This was already your third rental of these exact same e-bikes within a year from RADHAFEN. Therefore, I naturally assumed that you were generally familiar with handling e-bikes. The rental company also assumes that you would check and familiarize yourself with the functions of the unfamiliar rental bike. Then, during your "familiarization ride" from RADHAFEN to home, you would have already experienced the braking system, which was fully functional at the time of handover. The service number, which was mentioned again during the handover, was never used by you during the rental period. This number not only provides advice on self-service options but also authorizes on-site workshop access – if urgently needed.<br><br>Mr. Strecker, your comment is accurate in its description and wording – however, your technical assessment is incorrect, and the resulting 3-star rating is not something I can constructively evaluate. Unfortunately, I see this as damaging to your reputation.<br><br>Why? We were happy to pay the price for the dry, secure, and convenient parking of our bikes. The owner was very friendly and helpful, providing us with tips for the city, a map, and directions for our return trip. We also appreciated the clean restroom and were pleased to be able to charge our e-bike (Bosch) for free without needing our own charger. A top address for a tourist- and bike-friendly city!

We expected little and got a lot! Mr. Kordt is passionate about his business and his hometown. He always has a good tip at the ready. We were very well prepared for our planned bike tour and provided with great practical tips for the old country. His bikes work perfectly and were handed over in a well-maintained and serviced condition. He also took plenty of time to explain the functions and operation of the e-bikes, which we had pre-ordered online without any problems. We were very satisfied and will be back. We'd been wanting to explore the fruit blossoms in the Altes Land region by bike for ages, and after a quick online search for rental bikes, we chose RADHAFEN STADE. Luckily, they still had two e-bikes available, so nothing stood in the way of a fantastic bike tour. We received a warm welcome, the e-bikes were adjusted and explained to us, and then we were off. By the end of the day, we'd covered almost 50 km, thanks to the enjoyable ride on the comfortable, high-quality bikes and the diverse scenery. The Altes Land is definitely worth another visit, and we would rent bikes here again in a heartbeat! Thank you for the smooth process and the pleasant conversation!

September 2022 | We rented e-bikes for our company outing with 13 people. They were great, almost new bikes. The training was excellent and the staff was friendly. Everyone was very satisfied overall. I'm almost convinced to ride a bike again. But only almost. 😀

Excellent quality e-bikes for rent. The owner Patrick is super helpful with every aspect you could need, and helmets are available too. Highly recommended.
