I've never experienced such a straightforward service experience. I had a flat tire on my rear bike. Since I have a Yamaha engine, they can't repair it. When I asked what the tire had to do with the engine, I didn't get a logical answer. That means for anyone else with a Yamaha engine, you don't need to go there at all.

Owner's response

Hello Mr. Hundermark, that's correct, we don't repair bikes with Yamaha motors. However, this also applies to many other motors, e.g., Continental, Bafang, and any motors from direct suppliers such as Sushi Bikes, van Moof, etc.

If you've booked an online appointment (which is actually the only way to visit the workshop), we explicitly state that we only accept bikes with Bosch, Shimano, Fazua, TQ, Mahle, and Brose.
Sincerely,
Jörg Röhrig

I complained about an inspection and repair at Hoenig Bike Shop in August 2025. They did give me a brief acknowledgement of my complaint (at least), but unfortunately, despite several inquiries, that's all it took. I imagine their service to be a little different :( This shop is no longer an option for me. What a shame.

It's really strange that I get a newsletter from you even though I don't know your store, haven't registered anywhere, and haven't even requested it... Where did you get my email address?... I quietly ask myself, maybe I'll get an honest answer... where do you get the emails from?

Owner's response

Hello Jamie,
That's really strange. You only receive the newsletter if you've booked a workshop appointment with us or registered on our website. It would have been great if you'd sent us an email, but then we'll remove you immediately. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at the end.
Sincerely,
Jörg Röhrig

I had a very bad experience recently: I've been a customer for years and come in occasionally to pump up my bike tires. When I was there today, I was told they no longer leave the pump outside and that I had to use a public pump in the hospital parking lot. I did that, but the public pump was completely broken and, to make matters worse, sucked all the air out of the tire. I went back to the shop to report the problem politely, and the man suddenly started complaining extremely loudly, saying that customers were supposedly breaking his pumps and that we were all terrible, etc. It was as if it were my fault! "I won't support this anymore. This is the last time you'll use our pump!" (quote). Don't worry, I won't be coming back anyway. While I was pumping up my tires (which I did myself, of course, since he didn't want to do it), he continued to complain the whole time and treated me with total disrespect. I just wanted to leave—what an unpleasant guy! And he's not even the owner of the shop. I used to buy a lot of things for my bike there, but they've lost a customer today! The competition is fierce enough anyway to find another bike shop where customers are valued and treated with respect. I'm still shocked, honestly!

…only one star? Why? Well… Based on the very good reviews, I called the store to make sure they had a bike that met my requirements. The requirements were a 55cm frame, step-through frame, chain or hub gears but without a coaster brake, and a maximum weight capacity of over 130 kg. The response on the phone was: Yes – certainly no problem; book a consultation appointment online. Fortunately, I got an appointment quickly. Unfortunately, the appointment turned out to be a complete disaster. After I reiterated my requirements, as I had already done on the phone and when booking the appointment, they didn't show or offer me any bikes that met my needs. Firstly, there were no bikes with a step-through frame, and secondly, none with the necessary weight capacity. The only bike that came up was a random suggestion from the Utopia bicycle factory, but it cost over €3,000 (not an e-bike). I found online that the potential suppliers do have bicycles that meet my requirements, but they aren't available for delivery. … I could have saved myself the trip and the not-so-cheap parking fees in Bonn. I am absolutely dissatisfied.

Excellent advice, excellent price! I was there today with my son for his first bike. The staff member was incredibly patient and friendly! Thank you so much for the helpful tips; he was able to try riding it on his own this evening! Many thanks! The trip was more than worth it!

I bought my e-bike here. The consultation was very thorough; the salesperson took plenty of time for me and addressed all my questions and needs perfectly. I was able to test ride several models and choose the best one for me. And they didn't just recommend the most expensive option! They also included the right accessories, all at a very good price. Highly recommended! Thanks! :)

I went to the store to buy a new helmet. I was thinking of spending around €40. All the helmets on display started at €69, and the salesperson said there weren't any cheaper helmets anywhere. I ended up buying a Nutcase Street MIPS helmet, which the salesperson sold me for €90 instead of €99. At home, I then saw the same helmet online for €49, and even for €35 in other colors. That's a huge price difference!

Owner's response

Hi Stefanie,

Unlike in brick-and-mortar stores, online retailers don't offer any advice, fitting, or anything like that. Of course, many items cost less there. In physical stores, you stick to the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP), which is what the item actually costs. I don't understand why you're giving us a bad review, especially since it's based on the fact that an online retailer with a different business model, without expert advice or fitting, sells their items more cheaply.

I hope you're still happy with your new helmet.

Sincerely,
Moritz Aufenanger

Having recently had a very positive experience with the workshop – a very complex repair, very friendly and absolutely outstanding service – this time we received advice and purchased a new bike. The staff were knowledgeable, explained things in a way that was easy for laypeople like myself to understand, and were very service-oriented. We were able to test everything. The trekking bike we ended up buying is already a lot of fun! It couldn't be better. Thank you!

Owner's response

Hello Kaffeeschule, thanks for your review and thanks for the tip about our Espressooltimer, it helped.
Safe travels, Jörg Röhrig
I was new in Bonn and I went here looking for a Cervelo bike and Corima wheels. They were really kind from the beginning, they helped me also finding some components I was looking for. The frame delivery was postponed by the distributor. They were really sorry and they lent me a bike, so I could continue trainning in between. I am very pleased to have found such a good bike shop in Bonn and I don't doubt I will be back for anything I need. Great service, friendly team. 100% Recommendable.
