After receiving incorrect advice in another store and suffering from blisters on my feet for years while hiking, I wanted to buy new hiking boots. Based on the good reviews, I went to Magic Mount in Dortmund and wasn't disappointed. The problems were immediately identified upon examining my feet, and I was shown a selection of suitable hiking boots. The sales staff were very knowledgeable and all had many years of hiking experience themselves. I've had the hiking boots I bought there for three years now and am still extremely happy with them.

Bad advice! I initially visited the store in Dortmund to ensure there was a good selection of high-quality winter boots available for my wife and me. I received very friendly service and explained to the salesperson in detail that we needed very good, robust, and above all, warm winter boots for a 14-day winter cruise in Norway with many outdoor excursions. I had already scheduled a return visit for the next day. We value good advice and the opportunity to try things on. Online shopping is simply not an option, especially when it comes to shoes. Price was therefore completely irrelevant. With this prior knowledge, I was offered several models, and I was even allowed to try on a Hanwag Tatra II GTX, which was "highly recommended!" as the perfect boot for the winter tours I had described. It fit wonderfully, and I would have bought it immediately if we hadn't been planning to buy two pairs together, one for my wife and one for myself. So, I thanked them and told them we would be back the next day. ' ... Later that day, I wanted to find out more about the details of this shoe on the manufacturer's website and discovered that it's just an ordinary trekking shoe. The winter equivalent would have been the Hanwag Alaska Winter GTX, but this wasn't shown to me or recommended as an alternative, perhaps with the option of ordering it for us. Given the planned activities, this shoe would have been a fatal mistake! During the consultation, my requirements were deliberately and completely ignored, apparently to quickly reduce their stock. This grossly negligent approach, prioritizing quick profits over the safety and health of customers, is something I cannot accept in any way. Despite the pleasant atmosphere, good selection, and friendly staff, such serious misrepresentation could lead to severe health problems and leaves no room for a rating other than these two well-intentioned stars. We will continue to prioritize proper advice and look for the shoes we need in brick-and-mortar stores, but from a different competitor. Our trust in Magic Mount is irreparably broken.

A store that has everything you need! We wanted to buy a backpack, and Daniel gave us truly first-class, excellent advice. He took his time, explained everything thoroughly, and answered all our questions. Simply the kind of service you'd want. We'll definitely be back!

I'm a beginner and all of my experienced colleagues recommended this shop. I'm not average, and the advice I received was very competent and patient. They ordered several shoes in my size to try on, and they tried them all out on the climbing wall. I highly recommend it!

My summer hiking boots, which I bought here in June, proved their worth on their first serious outing (a hiking trip on the Amalfi Coast). The experienced tour guide glanced at my boots and remarked that they looked brand new... but I'd definitely bought a good pair. I agree – excellent grip, even on slippery and steep stone steps after two thunderstorms – and, as hoped, not too warm even in 30-degree heat. I'll definitely be a regular customer!

On Tuesday 05/03/2022 I was here to buy a pair of climbing shoes. The shopkeeper was a lovely person who took a few minutes (maybe half an hour) to introduce me to a wide range of shoes and was kind enough to help me choose the right one. The point is that I never felt like he was trying to get me to buy the most expensive but the most suitable even if it costs a lot less. Before this shop I visited Decathlon in Essen, that was a really bad experience because they only had a few models from a single brand and nothing else. If you are a beginner like me and need help to decide on the goods you want to buy, this shop comes highly recommended.

Really competent service and advice, they know all their stuff and how to get the right things for you! So definitely ask the staff for help! A huge variety of different products to try and to compare is available, so you are probable to find whatever you need. The prices might be a bit higher than in other stores but it's definitely worth it!

I usually shop here for climbing equipment and clothes. What is important for me is that the staff is knowledgeable and will help advice on things like which length a rope should be. Generally, they offer high-quality products, eg they have steel canteens and not only plastic or aluminium. DAV members get a discount.
