We were very disappointed and will not be going back to that store. We were looking for a child bike seat and helmet for our 7-month-old daughter. The salesperson was very arrogant. Without even asking what kind of bike we ride, he showed us child seats and rattled off a spiel about luggage racks. I intervened with an apology and explained that we ride mountain bikes and weren't looking for a child seat for a luggage rack. We were looking for one that attaches to the seat post, like the one we saw online. The bike shop didn't stock that, and immediately he badmouthed the seat and tried to sell us a trailer that cost €1500. When we explained that this was completely out of the question since we are campers and can't tow a heavy trailer, he refused to budge. We were generally advised against a child car seat because she can't sit up properly yet. The strange thing is, she sat on the counter the whole time without any help. Another saleswoman joined in and said she agreed with her colleague that our daughter was too small for a seat. First she can't sit up, and now she's too small? Before that, they were trying to sell us a child car seat... The whole thing is very questionable. I got the impression that they can suddenly make more money with a trailer than with a child car seat. The conversation wasn't any better when I asked about a children's helmet. I asked for an XS helmet from the brand ABUs, as size S is still too big for her. I know this because we tried both on at a friend's house. Either the salesperson wasn't listening to me or he didn't want to believe me. He picked up a children's helmet, size S, and without saying a word or asking if he could try it on, simply pulled it over my daughter's head. I found that completely unacceptable. He said it was definitely still too big. Yes, I had already said that. Then he said again that she was too small and that we should wait and come back in a few months! No, definitely not! We went to a different bike shop. With our permission, and after asking, they carefully tried on the size XS helmet, and it fit perfectly. They also showed us the child seat and demonstrated that it works exactly as we had seen online... we are simply thrilled.

Owner's response

We are sorry that you were not satisfied with our advice, but we would like to briefly clarify the situation from our perspective. The recommendation of a trailer was made solely for safety reasons regarding the spine of your 7-month-old daughter, as child seat manufacturers usually only recommend use from around one year of age, and we always advise consulting a pediatrician if in doubt. Financial gain was not the primary motivation, especially since we currently don't have any trailers in stock and would have had to order one for you. Regarding the helmet, we do not carry an ABUS model in size XS, as this size is not available from the manufacturer; even the smallest helmet from another manufacturer was unfortunately still much too large when we tried it on. Since our colleague is always extremely careful when dealing with small children, we clearly remember that a parent tried on the helmet. Nevertheless, we are pleased that you have now found a suitable solution at another store, and we wish you and your daughter safe travels at all times.

Best regards, Zweirad Niehus, Your Team (2 locations in Hamm)

Excellent advice from Mr. Danieli 👍👍👍 There's a great selection of fantastic bikes, and of course, you can take your time trying out different models. Competent advice, including help with finding the right frame size – 100% recommended. That made my decision to buy there very easy, even compared to other retailers. Many thanks to Mr. Danieli and Ms. Niehues 👍

I'm VERY satisfied! I dropped my bike off for repair today due to a flat tire, after a competing bike shop in the area refused to fix it and turned me away. At Niehues, I received incredibly friendly and competent service, and the repair was flawless. After two hours, I was notified that my bike was ready for pickup. I will definitely be back as a customer in the future. Thank you so much!

Owner's response

Hello Mr. Zachariae, thank you for the lovely review, we're very happy. Perhaps the next bike will be one from Zweirad Niehues ;-) Have a safe ride! Best regards, Zweirad Niehues, your team. Twice in Hamm.

From the consultation and test ride to the delivery of the bike, everything went perfectly. I was able to try out several bikes on-site. Mr. Daniel and Ms. Niehues really took their time and answered all of our questions. At no point did I feel like anything was being rushed. The pickup went perfectly. Everything was explained to me, shown to me, and adjusted to my needs. I was able to ride my new bike right away. I can recommend the shop 100%.

Owner's response

I'll keep it brief: The rim, both tires, and the rear part that holds the whole wheel together were bent/broken. So I went there because I'd heard a lot of good things about them. They fixed everything, and it was straight again—new tires and a new rim. Two days later, I went back and showed them the damage. As a goodwill gesture, they accepted it and replaced the tires free of charge. Well, these things happen, even though it was almost as expensive as the bike itself. I accepted it and didn't use the bike for two weeks while I was traveling. As soon as I wanted to ride it, both tires were flat again, and the front tire was installed backwards. I mean, don't they test these things?! And where do they buy their tires from that they're ruined every day? I'm never going there again. Best regards. This is my first review ever because this is just awful.

Owner's response

Dear Mr. Noel,

Thank you for your feedback. We are generally open to criticism and can admit mistakes – because that's how we learn.

However, neither I nor my team can specifically recall the incident you described. There was a similar incident some time ago, though: A customer came to us with a flat tire. After we repaired the inner tube, he returned shortly afterward with another flat tire. He said he had only ridden his bike to school once. Unfortunately, this sort of thing happens from time to time, as there's simply too much debris lying around on the bike paths.

In this case, we replaced the inner tube again as a courtesy. We also replaced the rim tape (not the rim itself) and pointed out that the front tire had been mounted incorrectly.

The parallels are there – however, we can't be certain it was you. It's possible there was a mix-up with another bike shop. That actually happens quite often. You submitted the review for the Heessen branch, but the incident occurred at the City branch.

The best thing to do is contact our City team directly – they'll be happy to help!

Sincerely,
Ute Niehues and the best team

I'm taking my e-bike to a health spa. I got a flat tire there. I wanted to remove the front wheel. Because I wasn't familiar with the Suntour axle system, I mistakenly unscrewed the nut, which caused a lot of small parts to fall out. Since no one there could help me, I contacted the Niehues workshop in Heessen. They explained everything to me over the phone, sent me pictures and videos, and even had a video call. This way, I was able to repair everything myself, remove and reinstall it. And now I can continue using the bike. That's far above-average, top-notch service. Thank you very much.

Owner's response

Hello Mr. Frank, thank you for the 5 stars. We're all the more pleased that everything worked out. Kudos to today's technology, which makes so many things easier. We wish you safe travels and a speedy recovery.

Best regards, Ute Niehues and my wonderful team :-)

I first had my old e-bike checked to see if replacing the motor was worthwhile. I received friendly, professional, and competent advice without any pressure. I then decided on a company bike leasing program. Again, I received friendly advice on the options that were important to me. The paperwork was handled quickly and easily, and everything was thoroughly explained and demonstrated to me when I picked up the bike. I felt very well taken care of. And my new bike is fantastic! 🥰

Owner's response

Hello, thank you for the kind review. Best regards.

A very good bicycle shop with a long tradition! They've been in Heessen for ages. My parents bought their bikes there, and they also bought my first bike and my first moped there! The moped was a limited edition Piaggio, I'll never forget it, I loved riding it, a long time ago. I was so happy with that wonderful gift from my parents! The BMX bike was great too! My goodness, where did I zoom around on it as a little boy! I only have a vague memory of the little bike with training wheels, that was just too long ago :-) In any case, my parents always brought me a lot of joy with them! Most recently, my mother bought a very nice white Pegasus bike there. We received good advice, also regarding the right accessories. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also do repairs, and if it's just a matter of pumping up the air, they do it without charging anything. They offer very good service. The quality of the bikes is good and the prices are fair. We have always been satisfied. and we had good experiences there. For us, Niehues was always the first place to go for bikes!

Owner's response

Thank you for your long-standing loyalty.
