Unfortunately, I had a negative experience. In my case, I wanted to drop off a backpack at the store for warranty service – as recommended by the manufacturer. The drop-off process initially went smoothly until an employee who hadn't been involved before approached me. Suddenly, the store wanted €15 for the warranty claim. The reason given was the "labor costs" – which I don't fully understand. Paying a reasonable amount would have been fine with me. However, I consider €15 excessive for a form stating "zipper repair under warranty" and for handing the backpack over to a shipping provider. When I asked if these costs would be covered by the manufacturer, I was told no. Therefore, I dropped off the backpack at Globetrotter free of charge and received excellent advice. Furthermore, the backpack will be shipped directly to my home after the repair. The store generally has a large selection of products.

Hi Christian,

Unfortunately, there are still some customers who don't understand how a privately owned brick-and-mortar retail business operates to remain profitable.

It would certainly have been more appropriate for you to return your item to the online retailer you trusted when you ordered it. Unfortunately, that's no longer possible since they've gone bankrupt.

Instead of wasting energy on this review and your outrage over our €15 service fee, you could have simply packed the item yourself and sent it to Ortlieb, as they also accept returns directly from customers. :)
Best regards

On August 1st, 2025, I went back to the cabin to buy a stove in a real store, not online. I explained my needs to the clerk: a stove for gas cartridges with a screw-on cap. After some helpful advice, I chose a model and was happy to finally have a new stove for my vacation. A few days later, at a campsite in Slovenia, I tried to screw the stove onto a cartridge and discovered that it didn't have a thread at all. So, it was exactly what I didn't want or need. Luckily, I still had my old, rusty stoves with me. But effectively, the purchase was a complete waste of time, and naturally, I'll be saving myself the trip to that specialty store in the future.
Owner's response
Hi Markus, we're sorry you had this experience. We can only assume it was due to a fundamental misunderstanding. Our entire team is very familiar with all gas stoves, and a screw thread on a stove is also very easy to identify visually. Best regards

We stumbled across "the cabin" while on vacation. We immediately felt comfortable in the shop. Besides buying a jacket, we also ended up buying hiking boots and a pocket knife because the service was excellent (both humorous and expert). If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back!
Owner's response
Thank you Stefan. We ware pleased, that you felt comfortable with us! :-)

We actually had a good experience with the advice here a few years ago when we bought camping gear. Hence, at least two stars. Recently, however, we bought hiking boots for our child, and the advice wasn't really bad; more like nonexistent. We're keen to support local retailers and the associated purchasing advice, and we're happy to pay a few euros more for it. But this way, I can also shop online and save money.
Owner's response
Hello Sapa,
We're sorry you didn't feel we gave you the best advice. We hope we can help you better with your next purchase. Best regards from the hut.

I was looking for thick trekking socks for my son. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any helpful advice. When I asked how the socks I was shown fit, the "advisor" simply read the size from the packaging and pointed out that my son would grow anyway. It's a shame, as I had only heard good things about the store, which is why I made the trip.
Owner's response
Hello Ulrike,

of course, we always try to give the best possible advice. Advising on textiles without the wearer being present can be difficult. Even socks can be tried on in our store (using sample socks) if you're unsure. Every foot and every feeling is different, regardless of the sock's fit. An exchange wouldn't be a problem after prior arrangement. Best regards and all the best
