Absolutely unprofessional. I dropped my bike off at Hempel to have four spokes replaced and the rear brake bled. Instead, without consulting me, they simply replaced the front brake – a completely unnecessary procedure. In the end, they charged more than double the agreed price. This doesn't seem like a mistake to me, but rather a deliberate rip-off. After my complaint, they did revert the new brake, but only very reluctantly. No apology, no remorse. Stay away from this shop. Anyone who goes there risks being ripped off. I can only hope that this kind of business practice doesn't last much longer.

The staff were completely annoyed by the customer (a heavily pregnant woman with a small child). He made this very clear. He didn't react for ages, then became very taciturn. He even made comments like "it's right here." We didn't buy anything.

I was told it would be ready in 5 days. I went to the store for my appointment -> a few more days -> I went to the store for my appointment -> a few more days -> ... After a total of 5 visits and over a month, I was finally able to pick up my bike again, at a price that nearly knocked me off my feet and was definitely not what I had been quoted. On top of that, the staff were rude, and it's also possible to arrive at the store during opening hours only to find the doors locked.

One star is still too many. You can't get any more unfriendly or with even worse service. Selling someone a new wheel nut for 4 euros is one thing. Another is, after explaining the problem of the old loose, worn nut and the resulting wheel no longer being securely mounted, not thinking to immediately install it and thus make the wheel secure again. Instead, they sent the customer away with the loose wheel and a new wheel nut. We have many good bike shops in Leipzig, find another one.

Worst experience ever I was there to repair the gearshift and the brake of my bike and I asked the owner the price because if it had been too expensive I would have directly bought a new bike. He told me that it would have cost 60€ ( that it’s an exaggerated price anyway, but during the lockdown not all the repair shops are opened, so I had to accept). When I went to pick my bicycle up, it turned out to be 99€ because he did something completely different, such as changing the chain, that I didn’t ask for! I complained about this and he offered me to put the old chain back if I wanted to pay 60€ as he told me at the beginning. It’s absolutely crazy to pay this much for these small problems! And also he did a double job by putting my chain back and dismantle the new one. If you want to receive a kind service and pay a reasonable price, avoid absolutely this repair shop.

My absolute favorite bike shop. Mr. Hempel does proper, long-lasting repairs. He doesn't rush things so you'll need his help again soon. Very high quality in both advice and workmanship at fair prices. I'm a very happy customer here. And regarding friendliness, I can say that we—and no, we don't know each other personally—are always friendly. I can't find this man unfriendly at all. As for opening hours, in almost three years I've been here, I've never once noticed the shop was closed when it should be open. But you can always call ahead and ask if he's there ;)

I came to this shop because I happened to drive over a piece of broken glass nearby and shortly afterward got a flat tire. Mr. Hempel is rather reserved and quiet, but still friendly. Therefore, I personally can't understand many of the negative reviews. The price for the inner tube and the tire change was also reasonable. Card payment is accepted.

I've paid 25 euros for nothing (to have my chain oiled and the wheels pumped, plus a very normal easel) and now I just have problems with my chain and rear wheel, because after the maintenance of the bike it has been wrong fixed
