Super professional and incredibly fast weld repair on my titanium frame. They even added an upgrade to prevent the weld from cracking again. A huge thank you to Johannes and his team. You guys are absolutely fantastic! 👍👍👍

Interim conclusion and some constructive criticism after a year with my now almost new P1.18 bicycle. This bicycle is the best I've ever ridden. A bike with a Pinion gearbox and belt drive isn't a racing bike. I think I was a bit faster on my last bike with a derailleur. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. The shifting is very precise and the 18 gears are finely tuned. The bike with its Amundsen frame rides on asphalt almost like it's on rails. Shortly after receiving the bike, I had to stop by the workshop twice briefly to have the derailleur tightened. I was helped immediately. In hindsight, I could have easily done it myself. Now, after about 5000 km (~85% road and ~15% forest trails), there's absolutely no rattling or squeaking. Kudos to Sebastian, who assembled everything with care, but also with a bit of haste due to a pressing deadline. I wanted a durable and maintenance-free bike, and with one minor exception, I got a truly maintenance-free bike in every respect. Thanks for the tip about not getting a suspension fork. If I had to make the choice again, I would have Rotor build almost the exact same bike (see below), even if it's a bit more expensive than an off-the-shelf model. The "almost" refers to the constructive criticisms I have. 1) The lights were connected to the hub dynamo via two spade connectors. I replaced them with a plug so I could connect my spare front wheel (winter wheel) to the cable. 2) In the first few weeks, you adjust the bike to your liking. The seatpost kept getting longer, and my neck got increasingly stiff because the bike had a rigid stem. I replaced it with an adjustable stem, and suddenly riding was incredibly relaxed. 3) I had expressed a wish for a suspension seatpost, for example, a Cane Creek. What I received was an Ergotec seatpost with a steel spring. I never really got on with it. It was either incredibly soft or completely rigid. It wasn't maintenance-free either. After a few weeks of frustration, I treated myself to a Cane Creek. The difference was night and day. 4) The Terry Fisio Flex Gel Man saddle unfortunately didn't last long. Today I discovered two leaks at the points of greatest stress. Rotor certainly isn't to blame for that. But of course, it's not ideal when a key component of a not-so-cheap bike breaks down after only a year. 5) The Schwalbe Marathon Mondial 28x1.60" tires still have good tread, but the puncture protection could be better. After a year and a week, something punctured the tire at its thickest point. This has never happened to me before. Perhaps it was just bad luck. 6) I wanted and ordered a very bright headlight with at least 100 lux. Unfortunately, I only received a bright headlight that is described as having at least 100 lux (SON Edelux II). The following points concern service. The service for the bike has been better with the "off-the-rack" bikes I've bought. 7) Apart from the Pitlock locks, which were quickly installed upon delivery, I received no documentation whatsoever with the bike. If I wanted to know something, I had to search online. Surely the descriptions/instruction manuals included with the individual components could be collected and provided, or the corresponding links could be sent via email. 8) I received no suggestion/offer for a service appointment, not even for The Pinion gearbox. I've had the pleasure of getting to know you as wonderful people and true enthusiasts with a great deal of dedication. Thank you so much for that, and of course for the fantastic bike. I'm giving it 4 stars because a few things could have been better. For the price, I would have expected some better components.

I'm a world traveler. I had my bike rebuilt for €3,000. I have to say it wasn't worth the money. I had to replace and repair a lot of things afterward. I waited half a year and then I got the result. I can't recommend this workshop for rebuilding. Uwe

Owner's response

Hi Uwe,

It's a real shame that you're so dissatisfied with us! You came to us wanting a new bike built with a Rohloff hub gear. We offered to let you continue using your good Tout Terrain frame and adapted it in consultation with you. The thumb shifter option was specifically requested by you. In the end, you weren't happy with how the Rohloff shifting worked, and after you'd already ridden several thousand kilometers, we converted everything back to a derailleur system at no extra cost. Our mistake was that, with the parts we discussed, we couldn't meet your expectations.

I personally apologize for that.

I wish you wonderful experiences and lots of enjoyment on your rides. All the best!

Sebastian

In April of this year, after a five-month wait, I picked up my new bicycle from Rotor. I admit my expectations were high, as my previous bike was also from Rotor. Overall, I was unfortunately disappointed with the new bike and the associated service. I had specifically requested a gear system that I was already familiar with. Unfortunately, I wasn't informed that I would no longer be able to climb hills with it, as the gear ratio is much worse. I would have expected this kind of information during a one-hour consultation, especially considering the price. Well, now I'm pushing my €3,000 bike up the hill. While they offered to replace the gear system after my complaint, my request for an appointment remains unanswered. I'm also still waiting for the promised replacement saddle and the approved pedal change. I ended up buying new pedals myself... at my own expense. My partner is still waiting for the lock he already paid for, which was also supposed to be delivered... but it's only been six months...

I brought a new bicycle wheel (perfectly straight) to be trued because my bike has an asymmetrical frame. We agreed on an approximate cost of €50 and a deadline of one week. A week later, I came to pick up the finished wheel. The mechanic quoted me a price of €80 plus €15 for tubeless rim tape (including installation). The installation of the tape wasn't specified. Furthermore, the rim tape was applied with bubbles. But that's not the worst of it. Now the rim sits better in the frame, but it's not centered by 3 mm. And the wheel also has a runout of about 2 mm. That's a lot, considering the runout was 0 mm when I dropped off the rim. Never again.

Owner's response

Good evening. I'm very sorry you're not satisfied with our work. Of course, we strive to complete our work correctly. We would like to receive the wheel again for correction. Please bring nine tires with you; we will mount the tubeless tires as compensation.

Sincerely,

Sebastian

I suspect it's a great shop with fantastic bikes and competent staff, it's just a shame that everything was closed during the stated opening hours and no one answered the phone. I tried my luck on Saturday at 11:45 am, without success. There was no information posted anywhere either, very annoying. Just write "Appointments by telephone only" – that would save potential customers time and frustration.

Owner's response

Hello Marko, we wish you a healthy new year and apologize. In the first week of the year, we always do necessary renovations and take inventory. We try to finish bikes by the last day of opening, and not all deliveries usually arrive at the beginning of the year. Just to clarify. We need to investigate why this information wasn't shared on our website and social media. We certainly have some catching up to do. We're more knowledgeable about bikes.
Despite this inconvenience, I wish you a good start to 2023.

Best regards…Sebastian ROTOR Bikes

I called last week AFTER closing time. They were able to let me in, and my bike repair was fixed within 5 minutes! Unfortunately, I was turned away at another well-known bike shop in western Leipzig. In short: Great shop, great concept, friendly and helpful staff.

Actually a competent shop, but unfortunately, they charged more than triple the price we agreed on (€135 instead of €40) for welding my frame. We "agreed" on €75 after my complaint (otherwise, I probably wouldn't have even gotten the frame back). Still, this is simply unacceptable. They could have at least called me beforehand to ask if they should do it anyway if they realized it would require more work. The frame was barely worth anything, and if I'd known the estimated price from the start, I wouldn't have taken on this job.

I bought a randonneur bike four years ago now, and I'm still riding it today – it's just perfect. I received a long and very patient consultation, and in the end, I had a bike that has carried me thousands of kilometers without a single breakdown – my longest trip was in 2016, almost 5000 km solo through Scandinavia. Thanks to Paul for the incredibly long consultation and your patience! :) My little red randonneur with the big wheels ;) I would buy another bike from you anytime!
