Aggressive and pointlessly condescending! If it weren't for the emergency of a flat tire on my 26 kg e-bike and my walking disability, I wouldn't have gone to this shop. Those who enjoy being verbally abused will definitely have a field day with the owner! Thanks anyway for the free inner tube. To top it all off, they even mounted the tire in the wrong direction!

Owner's response

Thanks for the tip, I got the whole repair done for free, but never again.

I can only echo the previous reviews. Apparently, some people just don't fit in. We've been there three times now, for different things: buying a men's bike, and getting a kickstand and mudguards for a child's bike. On two occasions, the owner didn't even come out; he just shouted from the workshop what we wanted. When we explained what we needed, he just shouted back, "We don't have that, it's not possible," without even looking at the bike. When buying a bike, we wanted a men's bike with a child seat for our little one. But the owner insisted it could only be a women's bike. So, we didn't get the purchase. It's a shame, really. You should go to the shops more often, but when you're treated like this... The owner's response: "Didn't get it? Very nice! I understood your request, but isn't the customer the one who decides? And unfortunately, that wasn't possible. You only wanted to sell me a women's bike; a men's bike, from your perspective, was simply not an option." I wish you all the best, but perhaps you could also try accepting the customer's wishes.

Owner's response

Dear Mr. Simon, please listen to what I have to say. You asked about a men's bike with a child seat, which isn't a problem at all. I was simply trying to explain that a women's bike is more comfortable for getting on and off. Unfortunately, you didn't understand. I'm sorry. P.S. Children's bikes are currently very difficult to find, and I have to shout because otherwise people can't understand me. All the best to you.

Very poor and unfriendly service. The salesman was incredibly arrogant and condescending... in a corresponding tone, he explained what a mountain bike looks like – young women don't seem to be the brightest thing in the world to him. After asking about the budget, there was absolutely no willingness to help or advise. The salesman's response: "A bicycle for €450 – that's not our clientele."

Actually, it's a good bike shop with a knowledgeable owner. He's genuinely willing to find a solution to any bike problem. However, if the customer doesn't like the solution or doesn't think it's suitable, then his willingness to help ends. There's no lengthy discussion. I was looking for a new mudguard for my bike. Unfortunately, there wasn't a suitable new one in stock. But there was a used, broken one that could have been modified. The owner was immediately and readily agreed to do this. However, I didn't want a used (and, in my opinion, pieced-together) part on my bike. I said so, and then the owner said that he couldn't help me anymore and left me standing there. Initially, I was grateful for his attempt to help me with the used part, but I found his curt reaction to my refusal inappropriate. Therefore, I can understand the one- and five-star reviews. A different approach would have left a good impression. As it is, the one-star reviews are justified. It's a shame.

I can only warn against this bike shop. I've needed their services twice in recent years. Both repairs were done unprofessionally. The owner reacted extremely aggressively to my complaints both times. No attempts at rectification were made.

Owner's response

Excuse me, when were you in my shop and what kind of bicycle were you using? Please get back to me, thank you.

I bought a fairly high-quality bicycle for my daughter. The bicycle had significant defects (a faulty brake and the front wheel coming loose during the first longer ride immediately after purchase). I politely—and without being accusatory—informed the seller about the problem. The seller's reaction to this defect was not "normal." I was blamed for the defect myself. He even suggested that someone else might have deliberately loosened the front wheel bolts. The seller, who is also the owner of the shop, showed no consideration whatsoever for the fact that my daughter narrowly escaped a serious bicycle accident because of the defect. He responded to the repair with insults and boorish remarks. Whenever I passed the shop later, he would whistle and shout at me. I would like to emphasize that I was in no way rude or demanding in my interactions with the seller, even when I reported the defect. Overall, I had the impression that the customer was treated as an enemy and an adversary. I would like to warn against entering this store – this concerns the service quality and especially the way customers are treated.

Owner's response

Dear Professor Meyer,

You purchased a very high-quality women's bicycle from the brand Viva for your daughter. Every bicycle from my shop is test-ridden before purchase, which also happened with your daughter's bike. Everything worked, and you bought the bike for your daughter. The brakes worked, the lights were on, and even the tires had air. Wheel nuts generally only need a wrench to loosen. When you came to my shop with your daughter, I was naturally annoyed, as the bicycle had been handed over in roadworthy condition. I apologize for this.

Dear fellow citizens, Due to my extremely negative experience, I strongly advise against visiting this shop! Soon after purchasing the bicycle, serious defects became apparent (e.g., in the hand brakes and the front wheel). When I pointed this out, Mr. Hirschke became verbally abusive and extremely aggressive for no reason. This is not what I call service. There are several good bicycle shops on Bölschestraße, but this one is definitely not among them! Edited on (November 11, 2020), @Owner: You don't have to deny it. You can't hide your choleric temper forever!

Owner's response

Sorry, which bike was that? I didn't sell a bike to Lukas???

If you don't speak German, don't even bother here. The owner is rude and acts like he doesn't want your business. Much friendlier bike shops in the area

I spontaneously went to Fahrrad im Kietz because of a problem with my bike – I was served immediately and the problem was fixed within five minutes. Thank you so much for the quick help – that's what I call great service. I'll definitely be back.

Friendly, competent, and fast. A true sports bike specialist, and he's certainly unbeatable in this field. However, with a Dutch bike, it's better to go to someone who knows a lot about it and can therefore offer better terms and enjoys repairing these bikes, which can sometimes be quite specialized.
