The kind Gentleman gave me a seat clamp screw for free and gave me a firm handshake. Absolutely humane people working there. Thank again

Very friendly and fast service. Helping their customers seems to be the priority rather than making €€. Highly recommend.

Michael saved the day! Even though the shop was about to close, he took the time to fix my bike when I really needed it for work. He’s super friendly, cracked a bunch of jokes, and turned a stressful moment into a great experience. Highly recommend him and this shop for their amazing service :) also still fair prices!

Great friendly (super) helpful service, advice including prompt free fitting of accessory items purchased. After a run of bad service (at hardwares🙄) our visit at Fam Rad GmbH was first class customer service (by the younger/middle aged guy) & has restored my faith in the good ppl in retail of Berlin ☺️✅👍🏆 Highly recommend 🇦🇺🦘

Scam: they over-insure cheap bikes, to then rent with combination locks with ridiculously easy combinations, 0007 in my case. When they inevitably get stolen, they get 500€ from insurance and 200€ from the people they rented the bikes to.

Had my brake lines bled brake pads replaced, but they were squealing horribly. Not a big deal, but when I took them back to get them redone under the warranty they tried to persuade me the six month warranty had expired when it had only been 5 months. They then kept telling me that I had to wait for a different colleague to be at work to take a look at them. They then tried to tell me they needed to do something that would cost money, I think, it was hard to get a straight answer to any of my questions. I got the strong impression they assumed that just by wasting my time, and telling me to come back later I would eventually give up and go away, because I was losing money by having to take public transport. They were absolutely right, but then they get this bad review as a result. Go elsewhere.

It's a shame an initially friendly place with good bikes ended up leaving such a bitter taste in our mouths. We rented two bikes for two weeks, usually 15 euros per bike per day but the owner, who was very friendly (hence not a 1 star review), gave us a very good deal because we were taking the bikes for so long. €250.00. Still a lot of money to spend on bike rental. It turned out that our plans changed and had to leave Berlin earlier than expected, so we went to the shop to notify them well in advance that we would only be taking the bikes for 10 days, not the 14. The short elderly man with glasses, Levent, initially said "no problem, I'll give you back 100 euros". I immediately understood that that wouldn't be fair on them as we got such a good deal initially and corrected him, saying that that would be too much. Visibly confused and partially offended, he made a valiant effort to figure out how much we would have to pay without this deal. Unfortunately he wasn't able to figure that out on the spot, so we decided to sort that out when we brought back the bikes. Of course that was a mistake, as when we came back all of a sudden we would have to pay full price for the bikes, so for 4 days less that would be €270.00! Of course that didn't sit well with us, so Levent gave us a whopping €2.00 per day discount, coming to €230.00. Which still feels a bit much as we only rented the bikes for 4 days less and brought them back in the morning. Anyways, we reluctantly accepted, we did bring them back earlier but it was not a very correct way of handling it considering the duration that we rented the bikes. Already slightly annoyed, Levent then pointed at the broken headlight which was already broken from day 1 and made us pay for that also. I explained that it was already broken from the beginning but he was very rude and said it was impossible, that they always check the bikes from advance etc. He would not listen and would not accept that it was already broken and charged us for the part, €20.00. A lot for a bike light, especially when you own the store and pay cost price for parts. In short, if you rent here make sure you check your bike very well otherwise they will charge you for extra parts. Also make sure that if they give you a deal that they don't try to make you feel guilty for it. Also don't go back to ask them to adjust seat height, Levent will be impatient, won't put it to the right height and will then complain about having to adjust it again. I would recommend going elsewhere for your bike rentals.

Worst experience ever. I bought a used bike for 350. I only started riding it 3 weeks later, then I get a flat tire WITHOUT any puncture. I go to them to fix it and the owner tells me I have to pay for a new tire, but I negotiate as I supposedly had a 1 year warranty. Then the owner accepted to give it for free after the mechanic informed him that there was no puncture and the problem was with the tube, so they only changed the tube for me. 2 days later the gear chain disconnects, so I go again and apparently there was something loose in the screws. After they tighten the screws (without adding or changing any parts), the same owner tells me I have to pay 10 euros. I didn’t care about the amount but the concept, why would I pay if the problem was with the loose screws? After a heated argument the owner tells me not to pay the 10 euros and not to come back and to go to ‘another bicycle place’. I recommend to go to a more honest bicycle shop on the same street. What a rip off!!
Owner's response
Hello Mr. Fakhhriddin, we regret your very poor review. We offer a 12-month warranty on non-wear parts for used bicycles. A puncture in a tire is not covered under warranty; however, we repaired it for you free of charge. We also repaired your rear wheel free of charge. Customer service is very important to us and our top priority, but we also dislike being treated disrespectfully. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to visit us anytime.

Sincerely, your Family Bike Team.

They speak English, which is great when you have limited German and are trying to explain an intricate issue with a bike. I went in today with a loose pedal, and they tightened it free of charge! They suggested other improvements that could be made for my bike, but were not pushy at all when I told them that I would only need my bike for another 2 months. Will definitely go back to them if I need a repair in the future.

What a pleasure dealing with Martin and his staff! very knowledgeable and helpful, reasonably priced, and always ready with useful advice. I've had my bike serviced by them and minor repairs done, each time with efficiency and friendliness. And they have a wide range of accessories and associated products - everything I look for in a bike dealer. I'm a customer for life, thanks Martin!
