I had a nice experience here before. But I had a really unfriendly experience there recently… rolling his eyes, being dismissive and hostile. I think I annoyed him by bringing my bike inside for a servicing request? It’s a bike shop… I would have done the consultation outside if he just suggested it… I thought he was telling me the bike would need to be locked outdoors… maybe it was all a miscommunication. I’m still very confused by the whole interaction. — Response to defensive and hostile owner reply (before they deleted it): I didn’t notice the sign on the door. It was an honest mistake. I understand why you’d want to do them outside. If you just said “hey, can we chat outside because because the shop is too small”, I would have said “absolutely, no problem”. This hostile interaction threw off my entire day. If you didn’t want a bad review, you should be more friendly and respectful next time. Why would I give someone who belittles and scoffs at me any other kind of review? If the experience was so bad that I won’t ever go back, then you deserve a bad review. Also I was happy to leave my bike. I didn’t say it had to be same-day service… I asked if I could pick it up today, but didn’t mind having to wait. Totally normal question. Everything I said was dismissed with an eye-roll. There are hundreds of shops to choose from. Cheers.

My original "defensive and hostile owner reply":

Dear Stephen,
I'm sorry to hear that you felt mistreated and I want to apologize for my part of the miscommunication.
As you mentioned it yourself, I think we had a misunderstanding that spiralled up after you brought your bike inside. It clearly says on the door to leave bikes outside and that we come outside for consultations. This is because this is a very small shop and space is limited, which you might have noticed when you crashed your pedal into a wheel that was standing on the floor.
Of course we store bikes left here for servicing safely inside over night.
Anyhow, I'm sorry if I did not communicate all this well an politely enough.
What leaves me personally very confused is that you find it necessary to give us a bad rating after having one good experience here and another one that was not great but was based on communication issues between you and me.
I hope you found a place that could help you with your same-day service request and wish you a nice weekend.
All the best,
Arne

This is a real Kreuzberg gem! Not only can the shop fix almost every two or three wheeled vehicle and order any gear you would need to cycle. They also are super friendly always having an ear and eye for your problems and needs. The go-to mechanics in the best part of the city...

I had a very positive experience at this shop as I needed a same-day repair of my rear wheel while I was on a long bike tour. This shop understood the situation and urgency and fixed the wheel that same afternoon. I had a successful remainder of the tour with no issues to Austria with that wheel and did not get delayed in dealing with this issue. I went to a few other shops before I found this one and they were not able to accommodate my situation and there would have been a day or two delays in my leaving Berlin which would have derailed my tour plans as I had a hard stop in Salzburg and a flight to catch. Thank you Scweinhund Bikes!

Friendly, helpful, and understanding – these guys had what seemed like my perfect bike, but understood I wanted to look around a little more as I was just starting my search. They not only talked me through the pros and cons of different options, but gave me a list of bike shops to comparison shop, and made me a fine americano. I came back a few days later and they helped me swap the handlebars on a fine Pelago Hanko Commuter, and I rode out with my dream bike. Super friendly, and they're happy to speak english if that's what you need! Will be going back for fixing up my other bikes, too.

Great Bikeshop! They take the time to properly analyse problems/challenges and find solutions to "unsolvable" situations. Some great Bikefreaks😎 Can 100% recommend!

By far the best bike shop I have found in Berlin. Saw some other comments here saying service is poor, but that has never been my experience. While building up my first ever frame from scratch, I was in the shop several times a week asking advice on how to make a relatively difficult build work. The guys were always amazingly helpful and honest, not just trying to sell me a quick part to get rid of me. Now I have my dream bike, largely thanks to these guys. I go there for most of my bicycle needs now, and repairs are always fast and to a high standard. They also have a really cool range of new bikes, wheelsets, saddles, other parts and proper cool cycling hats. Highly recommend.

If your bike is a family member, that you would trust only in special hands, this is the store I recommend first in Kreuzberg. Also great choice of accessories like bike caps (also local made) and bike racks from my favourite Pelago. These guys are also up to date about cycling events and social rides in Berlin and contribute a lot to the cycling culture, supporting these events. Always pleasure to work with them and be a customer!
