We were very satisfied with our first visit and would like to particularly highlight the excellent service: The owner and his colleague dedicated a full two hours to us (even though we had only booked a 60-minute slot). We were also offered a complimentary drink and had ample time to find the perfect sidemount jacket for us – with adjustments made right there in the store. Truly outstanding service and a respectful approach to us as customers. A large, competing Berlin store could certainly learn a thing or two from them.

The most competent dive and sidemount shop in Berlin and Brandenburg. They also carry technical equipment and are the only well-stocked supplier of SANTI drysuit systems in Berlin. Excellent, friendly, and expert advice, and much more. Mathias Grützmacher is what you would call a complete, worry-free package! 😄👍 My "diving addiction" started in 2014, and my first contact (together with my daughter), and probably my only, dive instructor, is Mathias Grützmacher! He taught me and my daughter everything with great patience and kindness. It's simply a pleasure to learn any training course (no matter how difficult or strenuous) with him. At no point did I feel insecure or poorly prepared. Thank you for your patience, Mathias! 🫶 All my equipment was specially fitted and ordered for me by him; at no point did I feel that anything unnecessary or useless was purchased! We got along so well from the very beginning that a friendship developed which has continued uninterrupted to this day. As a result, I meet up with other diving enthusiasts at his shop once a week and help him out on a voluntary basis. There's always something to do! 😉

Caution! (Santi Drysuit Purchase) My experience with purchasing a drysuit (Santi) from Mathias/tauchfan.de has unfortunately been very negative, so I would recommend finding a different retailer for this particular item. Since even a detailed description of the defects, including photos and an additional legal review, did not lead to the customer agreeing to take the suit back, the matter was ultimately handled by a lawyer. Despite all efforts to reach a satisfactory solution, Mathias has now let the final deadline pass without any response (burying his head in the sand...), so we will now have to file a lawsuit and go to court. (As of January 17, 2024) The intention of supporting the small, friendly shop and eagerly anticipating the purchase of a nice new drysuit (along with extensive accessories) has unfortunately resulted in a lot of hassle, waiting, and frustration. Nobody needs this. Background for those interested: After a long drive (almost 6 hours in total), I arrived at Santi's location to get advice on a new drysuit. The appointment was preceded by a detailed email in which I very specifically outlined my requirements and preferences regarding fit, material, and intended use. Finally, Mathias took my measurements to ensure the best possible fit thanks to Santi's free alteration option. In theory... The initial contact made me feel optimistic. Mathias came across as very friendly and knowledgeable. However, things went downhill immediately after I made the deposit. Inquiries were only answered after repeated reminders, and some questions simply went unanswered, even after multiple requests. After having to wait significantly longer for the suit (a quarter of a year!) than Mathias had initially indicated, I was in for a big surprise – and not a pleasant one. Then, after having to wait considerably longer for the suit (a quarter of a year!) than Mathias had initially indicated, I was very disappointed. . ... The suit is either far too wide or far too narrow in several places and quite obviously doesn't fit my body measurements. It's so tight in the shoulder, arm, and back areas that I wouldn't even be able to safely reach the valves to react appropriately in an emergency. The attached boots are about 4 cm too big. Furthermore, the seams/patches around the inlet and outlet valves aren't properly glued and are sticking out from the suit material. This has nothing to do with Mathias, but rather calls into question Santi's manufacturing quality. My criticism, however, is more about the reaction to this and the apparent unwillingness to properly address the issue. Regarding the poor workmanship, Mathias suggested I simply send the suit directly to Santi in Poland. They would then take care of the repair… After a three-month wait for such a high-priced, brand-new product, I have a different solution in mind. Regarding the incorrect suit measurements, I was told I should simply travel to Berlin again to "look at it, document it, and discuss it." Aside from the unreasonableness of this, it's also pointless. Everything has already been thoroughly documented and photographed, and the suit (at least for my body measurements) is impossible to salvage in its current state. Since August 2023 (over five months to date), I still haven't received a diveable suit, nor has my money been returned to my account. Whatever (personal?) reasons there may be for not wanting to address the matter properly, in my view, this is no justification for treating customers this way. I wouldn't wish this kind of experience on anyone—that's why I want to share it here.

Definitely the best dive shop in Berlin. Expert advice without feeling pressured to buy anything. Diving equipment and courses at fair prices. The service is incredibly good, and if they don't have something in stock, they can order it (even if it sometimes takes a little longer due to their partners). Matze, keep up the good work! :)

Owner's response

Thank you for the praise. We are doing our best.

Excellent advice! They took plenty of time. I will definitely buy my other diving equipment here. In my opinion, the only technical dive shop in Berlin and the surrounding area.

We ordered sidemount and cave diving equipment online from Tauchfans and received excellent and, above all, very quick advice beforehand. Many thanks to Mathias for this ;-) Payment and shipping were also super fast.

Owner's response

Thank you very much and enjoy the equipment.

A well-stocked shop for advanced divers, sidemount enthusiasts, and of course, beginners too. Mathias and his colleague offer professional advice. The service is good, and the prices are reasonable; you feel well taken care of here. Keep it up! Regards, Steffen

A not-so-small shop on Degnerstraße. (It used to be a shoemaker's shop.) Good team, who can also give good advice. ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ Diving is always a great experience... I know what I'm talking about... I did my AOWD back in 1997. ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ ☝ Anyone interested in this will definitely get good advice at Tauchfan.

Thank you!
